The newest HUG was designed for the oil and gas industry. Utilizing massive steel components all the way around, including four levelers, the HUG features a 1″ solid steel axle shaft mounted on 3100# rated steel bearings, driven by a 1/2 ton heavy duty stainless actuator- all for a 10 pound arm.
Utilizing a deep cycle battery, the American made HUG is capable of hundreds of full open and close 7 second cycles daily. There are numerous options like a 30 Watt solar panel, automatic exit, radio control and proximity card readers. When a Midwest hospital resurfaced their helipad, a temporary landing zone was set up in a nearby parking lot for seamless operations. A serious issue was how to allow only specific authorized vehicles into the LZ without having to install a hard mounted gate at the entrance. BOB, the Battery Operated Barrier took care of the problem by providing a 9’ portable gate, and assigning remote controls with visor clips to only the emergency vehicles allowed access to the pad.
